Hasan's November/December Treat - Melissa Benoist

Melissa Benoist

Take a good look at Melissa Benoist, she may look familiar. She's made appearances on many of your favorite TV shows. She's actually a singer and actress with led to her starring in Fox's hit series "Glee." She's guest starred on Law & Order: SVU, Blue Bloods, The Good Wife and Homeland, just to name a few.

But now she has her own series. Melissa has been cast to play none other than D.C Comics' Supergirl. Now that's BIG! Playing this iconic comic book character is a huge responsibility to comic fans & women in general because their aren't any female super heros with their own series today.

This is why Melissa Benoist is our Ha Candy cover girl for November/December.

“If we had not found her, I would have said ‘I don’t want to make this,'” says executive producer Greg Berlanti of Benoist, who was casting director David Rappaport’s pick for the role. Like Stephen Amell (“Arrow”) and Grant Gustin (“The Flash”) before her, he had her audition first to signal she was The One.

It worked, and Benoist landed one of the most coveted roles of the 2015-2016 season. Here's what she said about the “surreal” feeling of playing a female superhero.

How did you get the role of Supergirl?

Melissa Benoist - I believe I was the first girl they saw. I think the same went for Grant. Ten auditions later, three screen tests later, two and a half months later… I got the call. Greg championed me the whole time and was in my corner. Even when I didn’t think the part was mine, he was always rooting for me. That support goes a long way, especially when I’m fighting for something I want so badly. His belief in me really touched me.

Why did you want the part?

Melissa Benoist - Not only because she’s a strong female and a female hero which I think is so important and will speak to so many people at this time right now in the world. I also was so drawn to her humanity, even though she is an extraterrestrial with powers. I was drawn to how flawed and complicated she is. She’s more complicated than you see in superheroes nowadays. Greg breathed that life into her from the get-go. He even said to me in one of the auditions, “She’s like the Annie Hall of superheroes” — and that sealed the deal for me. I was like, yes!

Do you have any ideas where the show is going creatively?

Melissa Benoist - I have a few ideas. I know generally who the big bad villain is. I know about Supergirl’s relationships. The whole team has given me a lot of freedom to create her as my own.

Do you feel any pressure?

Melissa Benoist - Of course I do, but not in a negative way. I’m not necessarily a person who works well under pressure. But in this situation, I am so excited about it. I’m not going to let myself doing anything less than what I think people will want to see.

What does it feel like to play a superhero?
Melissa Benoist - Not like what you would expect! There are the moments you feel like a badass and you feel empowered. You feel strong and confident. But I have to say there are moments when I step back and look at the bigger picture and I’m on the set with fire and explosions and I’m in the suit and I’ll have to do a double take and be like, “What am I doing?” This is hilarious and surreal and amazing.

“Glee” showed us she can sing and can dance, now on CBS’ Supergirl is showing the world Melissa Benoist can fly too!
You can catch "Supergirl" every Saturday at 8pm on CBS.

Hasan's September/October Treat - Victoria Lomba

Victoria Lomba

Victoria Lomba is one of the most popular fitness models in the world. This gorgeous globetrotter of Spanish-Brazilian origins has become one of the best-paid and most engaged fitness stars. She committed herself to serious gym sessions fifteen years ago. Since at that time it was still quite unusual for a girl to work out so much, she became very intriguing for authorities in the fitness industry. Thanks to her natural beauty, she achieved her initial success very fast and soon moved to the USA. But it was not until the Internet became a powerful medium that she reached international stardom. Fitness is something you have to be able to see and observe. With the emergence of Social Media, Victoria was suddenly able post unlimited personal, professional & competitions photos online. The result were outstanding. Victoria’s Facebook page became one of the most visited of all fitness stars’ pages. Victoria is focused, she's beautiful and now she's Hasan's Monthly Treat.

Ha Candy - Hey Victoria, welcome to Ha Candy! How are you?
Victoria Lomba - Hi, thank you very much for this great opportunity. I'm very happy to be on this great publishing, I want to thank you for this interview for all fans of Ha Candy

Ha Candy - "Queen of Fitness" is a great name for you. Besides working out, do you play any sports?
Victoria Lomba - Fitness is my passion, but at the end it is also a job. I have to work everyday in the gym, it does not matter if I'm sick or depressed, every day hard workout to keep fit. There are other sports on all extreme sports, I love all sports irrigation, Rafting, Canyoning, Bungee jumping and climbing! I also have my own business, Adventure Sports.

Ha Candy - Where are you from?
Victoria Lomba - My mother is Spanish and my father is Brazilian. I live part of the year in Spain and many months in Miami, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. This year 2014 , I will definitely be moving to Mexico City, to continue with my business and be closer to the United States.

My photos were published in journals in Australia. I was winning a competition for television called Summer Top Girl and that threw me to fame in my country.

Ha Candy - What do you think is the sexiest part of your body?
Victoria Lomba - Definitely my ass is what they like, the boys and the girls too! For me personally, my eyes are sweet like me! But that's where almost no one looks!

Ha Candy - We know you practice a healthy living, but do you give yourself a cheat day? A day where u eat something you really shouldn't lol
Victoria Lomba - Well I love Italian and Mexican food. I like food very spicy and very strong but again, I almost never go out of my diet

Ha Candy - What do you like to do for fun?

Victoria Lomba - Many people do not know I have a big family. I'm a mother of three beautiful daughters. All my work, all my effort is dedicated to my family!

Ha Candy - If you were a piece of candy, what would you be?
Victoria Lomba - Seria candy, my best is inside. You have to remove the wrapping to see my best. My best is almost never seen, it's my heart!

Hasan's July/August Monthly Treat - Maggie Diaz

Maggie Diaz a.k.a Bella Rose

Being a single mom is one of the toughest jobs in the world. Having a career while raising children is even tougher. Meet Maggie Diaz a.k.a Bella Rose, a hard working single mom who's priority is providing for her two sons. Maggie is beautiful, smart, career driven and focused on giving her kids the very best. No matter the obstacles, Maggie continues to move forward with determination. So lets welcome Maggie Diaz to Ha Candy Digital, she's making the workplace a little bit sweeter.

Ha Candy: Welcome Maggie to Ha Candy Digital! How are you?
Maggie Diaz: Thank you for having me, I'm great

Ha Candy: So where are you from?

Maggie Diaz: Well I was born in Puerto Rico but I reside in New York

Ha Candy: Looking at your pics, one would assume you were a model, video vixen or something like that. You're not at all, tell our readers what you do for a living…

Maggie Diaz: No I'm no model, video vixen or anything of that nature. I'm actually a public safety officer in the Bronx.

Ha Candy: That's amazing! Is being a public safety officer a stressful job?

Maggie Diaz: Yes! Lol it consists of dealing with the public (craziness) you definitely have to have a thick skin, you always have to be on your toes and aware of everything around you but overall it is an exciting job there's pros and cons to it but of course I enjoy what I do...

Ha Candy: What made you choose this profession?

Maggie Diaz: I needed a change from the medical/health care field.
I've been a medical assistant, dental assistant, physical therapy assistant, home health aide, receptionist, office manager etc... but nothing kept my attention. These jobs became boring very fast. It was dull and lacked excitement. Until I became a public safety officer! The randomness and excitement of it all keeps me interested.

Ha Candy: You're also a mother of two, is it tough being a mom with a career?
Maggie Diaz: Yes it's extremely hard especially having 5 year old twins.... I Don't have much of a social life and it is by CHOICE. I'm a mother first before anything but juggling both can be a challenge and overwhelming at times, but what I can say is it's truly a blessing and I wouldn't change it for the world!

Ha Candy: You are very beautiful, you must get approached a lot. Tell us one of the craziest pick up lines you've heard lol.

Maggie Diaz: Yes I do get approached a lot. My goodness, the worst pick up line I think I've heard was "Your so beautiful can I please clone you"

Ha Candy: What do you look for in a man?

Maggie Diaz: What do look I for in a man.... Stability is def the main thing... A man doesn't have to have the most expensive, extravagant things but as long as he has all his ducks in a row and is secure in his life then I'm all for it ... I look for a man that is driven , ambitious knows what he wants in life... A man that always wants to move forward and better himself... And of course a man that treats his mom like a queen because hey lets face it how he treats his mom is the way he will treat you.

Ha Candy: Being a mother of twins & having a career is very time consuming. What do you do to relax?
Maggie Diaz: Don't laugh (lol) I take selfies! Or take pictures of anything that catches my eye.... Photography is definitely one of my hobbies. It is something I'm passionate about and I enjoy doing it. It gives me a sense of calmness and it actually puts me in a whole other world where everything becomes a blur and zoned out. I call moments like that my "Happy Place." And if I'm not doing that then I'm listening to music just writing my thoughts into poetry.

Ha Candy: As beautiful as you are, do people take you seriously in your profession?
Maggie Diaz: Unfortunately No, until they see me upset..... sad but true!

Ha Candy: We're heavy into music here at Ha Candy Digital, who's your favorite artist right now?

Maggie Diaz: My favorite artist most definitely is the one and only K. Michelle.

Ha Candy: Well Maggie we applaud you and all the working mothers out there. I know it isn't easy but you make it work. Do you have any advice for the young moms out there who think they can't do it?

Maggie Diaz: Yes my word of advice is : don't EVER give up be a role model for your child or children.. Your children will be a reflection of you x10. Do anything and everything for your children, go over and beyond your limits and I guarantee you will have a successful young man/young woman and you will be proud of the accomplishments because you'll  know all your hard work, sweat, tears paid off... Never let failure be an option!

Ha Candy: Thanks for being a part of Ha Candy Digital, any shout outs?

Maggie Diaz: I would like to give a shout out to ALL single, working mothers who refuse to become a statistic and do better for themselves and their children...We Winning!!!

Ha Candy - Where are you from & what do you remember most about growing up?

Alicia - I am from the Philadelphia Area. The most I remember about growing up is how as a child I was very active and always doing something positive. Whether it was dancing or participating in shows at school. I also remember how kids use to actually have fun without the use of having cellphones and computers. Back in the day, we had hopscotch, hide and seek, tag. Things were just different. Nowadays all we have is social networks. People don’t know how to communicate with each other any more physically.

Ha Candy - What songs/artists influenced you to try rapping? (And tell us about your singing)

Alicia - Well growing up I always listened to artist like Mariah Carey, the late Whitney Houston and Aaliyah. Even old school music like Sam Cooke and The Supremes. Listening to their music made me seek my inner talents. Listening to Bone Thugs and Harmony actually begin me to have interest in rapping. I loved listening to the way they put their words together.

Ha Candy - How are you unique from other women in music?

Alicia - I believe I am unique because I feel that I have a different sound than most. My voice is very unique. The things that I write and how I put it together is very different from what you hear now on the radio.

Ha Candy - Tell us about LelaKAngels.

Alicia - Well LelaKAngels is an organization that promotes inner beauty. It is a movement. We have girls from all around the globe who are Angels. A LelaKAngel is someone who wants to make an impact in the world they live in. Someone who wants to leave their mark behind. A LelaKAngel is someone who sees a bright future for themselves. They stand out from the crowd and carry a coat of confidence.

Ha Candy - How do you promote "Inner beauty" and help others find theirs?

Alicia - I promote inner beauty by absolutely being myself! Not being worried of what others think or say. No one is perfect but as long as you are one with yourself you will see beauty in everything. The Creator made us all unique for our own reasons and finding those reasons will help people see their true purpose in life and to be happy with themselves. I help others find theirs by giving them daily inspiration, by letting people know that they are not alone. Finding your true self, finding your inner beauty starts with one person and one person only, that person is you. I can show you the road, I can even hold your hand for a little but it is you who must take the 1st step. It is you who must eventually let go of my hand and continue your path on your own because at the end of the day it is your journey.
Ha Candy - Your also starting a fashion line?

Alicia - Yes I am, Lela Kouture. I started Lela Kouture because I feel that some people are scared to be different. I started this line for girls that want to be different with the way they dress and from what type of accessories they wear. They do not have to look like everyone else when wearing something that everyone else may have. They can wear anything but the point is to wear it in their own way. I know growing up I always stood out and wore things that were different but nowadays people are scared to step out of this box. They want to look like everyone but their self.

Ha Candy - So far in your career, what experience do you remember most?

Alicia - I remember a great deal of things. The Bad and the Good. I remember people trying to take advantage of me because I was so young and new to this industry. But I've learned from every experience and now I am here to share my story and be better than I ever was. All while helping and guiding other people.

Ha Candy - When people get to know you what are they most surprised to learn about you?

Alicia - They are surprised to know how silly I am. I have a big sense of humor and I really enjoy making other people laugh.
Ha Candy - Tell us a story beginning with "Dear Ha Candy Diary" (Tell us a true story about you. Funny, dramatic, romantic, anything)

Alicia - Dear Ha Candy Diary, Today I woke up with a smile on my face. Not only am I alive but I am blessed. Blessed for the people in my life blessed for my son, blessed for my family and blessed for such an amazing circle. Today… will be a great day because I said it will be. There is no room for mistakes, no room for negativity and if for any reason my patience is tested today I ask The Creator to give me the strength to refrain from kicking somebodies a**.   Thank you J
Ha Candy - Any shout outs?

Alicia - Most importantly the The Creator! I would also like to give a shout out to my supporters. Thank you for supporting me. My loved one and my son. Also to my family and my circle. I love you guys. And a big shout out to HA Candy! Thank you guys so much for having me and bearing with me *laughs* I know it took forever for us to get this interview rolling. *smiles* But we got it done! Thank you guys for your support!

Ha Candy - What candy describes you best?

Alicia - mmm..Skittles

Ha Candy - If your lover were a piece of candy which would they be?

Alicia - Ferraro Rocher

Ha Candy - Now that you've hung with us in the Ha Candy factory, what do you like about Ha Candy?

Alicia - You guys always keep it real! I love it! Thank you so much again for having me! Yal the real MVP’s
